ARTISTS › Aslon Arfa
Born on September 25th, 1970 in Tehran, Aslon started photography with his father's help when he was 8. He became Kamran Adle's (a noted Iranian photographer) assistant when he was 17 and worked with him for several years.
He received his BA in Atomic Physics in 1993 from Tehran Univesity.
While he was still a student, Aslon started working as a photographer for Danestaniha Magazine, where he worked until 1998. After finishing his two-year military servicein 1995, he worked for Iran Newspaper for one year and spent another year working for Iranvich daily. In 2000 he decided to become a freelance photographer. Since then he has worked on several projects such as Drug in Iran, Women peshmarga in Northern Iraq, Afghan's life in Northern Afghanistan, Repatriation of Afghans from Iran and Iran's martial arts. His pictures have been published world-wide in several magazines and newspapers such as Newsweek, Time, Paris Match, New York Times, Stern, Der Spiegel, Panaroma, Le Hebdo and Le Figaro. He has also worked with several photo agencies.
Since 2010 he is a member of the board of trustees of Association for the Protection Of Child Laborers (APCL) in Iran. In addition he is the ambassador for Puntum Magazine for Iran.
In 2011, his book called "Black Crack in Iran" was published by Power House, USA.
